200 series stainless steel is the Department of CrMnN stainless steel, the earliest development at the end of World War II. Other countries in the world, the 200 series stainless steel has been used in a limited range, the products are generally used for the production of the flagpole, car wheels. ISO15510 (the products of stainless steel smelting ingredients) are listed in the standard. Mature stainless steel producing countries and consuming countries, and its production and consumption accounts for only about 2% of total stainless steel.

The data show that the 200 series stainless steel under different nickel content has different grades, as well as individual countries, different 200 series grades each production. 201 was originally developed in the United States and 202 in two grades of stainless steel containing nickel volume of about 4%, its corrosion resistance, although somewhat less than the 300 series 300 series, but it can be replaced in some areas.

Circulation of 201 and 202 stainless steel in the Chinese market is not performed in accordance with U.S. standards in the true sense of the 201, 202, AISI standards to reduce nickel, and adjust the other ingredients, with some improvement in some performance, while The corrosion resistance is decreased. However, precisely because of the low nickel content stainless steel 200 series relative to the 300 series stainless steel 200 series has a significant cost advantage and price advantage.

Domestic 200 stainless steel, the lack of an authoritative uniform standard in the 200 series use shoddy phenomenon left more risks to production and day-to-day application. For example, some brands of 200 series stainless steel product of its nickel content of about 1%, and reduces the chromium content in order to reach the non-magnetic characteristics. This variety is not only poor corrosion resistance, easier rust prone to manganese vapor hazard to human health, but also in the welding process.

201 stainless steel performance analysis of the domestic market

The domestic market “201″ sold in the name of the product, basically J4. The J4 Steel No. is India’s largest stainless steel producer Jindal company factory standard ——– J4 Model of India, with a nickel content of 1% or so, and in order to reach the non-magnetic characteristics reduce chromium content. Recently in the market, we purchased the largest five production “200″ to “201″ series stainless steel production marketed under the name plate of the sample sent to the Central Iron and Steel Research Institute to conduct the examination of the chemical composition and pitting performance test, and Baosteel, TISCO produced 409L Cr13, 439L, 304 were compared. The results show that all these foreign products claimed to be “201″ on the sales in the domestic market, their ingredients do not meet the 201 national or international standards, 16% to 18% Cr content of national and international standards, the content of these enterprises less than 15%; 3.5% to 5.5% nickel content of national and international standards, these enterprise products only a 1.01%, and other content of less than 1%. Their ingredients are basically the same with India’s Jindal J4 ingredients. By the pitting resistance testing in neutral chloride (3.5% NaCl solution), five enterprise product pitting resistance is far lower than the 304 and 439L, and all below Cr13 only basic with 409 L (For more details see table below). Based on the above data, we can draw the following conclusions:

1, sales on behalf of the “201″ on the market, is not in line with national and international standards of 201, in fact J4.

2, their pitting resistance is only equivalent to 409L.

3, the products sold on behalf of the “201″ in the previous stage of the market price of 16,500 yuan per ton (2B2mm), 409L to 12,200 yuan. 409L user purchase basic performance equivalent savings of 4,300 yuan per ton.

4, compared with the 409L, these products are mostly used precious alloy material such as nickel, chromium, copper, and manganese, less than 409L less of niobium, titanium, etc., per ton of alloy material value of 4511 yuan (September 25 alloy market prices).

5, according to information provided by the International Stainless Steel Forum, 409, 410 is used instead of carbon steel material (see below), that is, its corrosion resistance than carbon steel only. In other words, the corrosion resistance of products sold in the name of “201″ on the market just higher than carbon steel.
